Are you looking for the right Acoustic Guitar?
What type of Acoustic Guitar is the right one for you?
Your guitar must be playable, affordable, and pleasing to the ear and the eye. The style of music will you want to make will help direct you toward a certain style of guitar. Do you like a cut-away, or the more traditional full body appearance?
Are you wanting to flat pick, finger pick, both? If you already play guitar and are looking for a higher quality instrument, you will likely be looking at the workmanship, the woods used in manfacturing and the reputation of the company.
Beginners often purchase a smaller size guitar because it can be easier to get fingers around the neck and onto the right strings. Sometimes a new learner will purchase a nylon string guitar because the strings are softer, but the neck is wider, so it can be more difficult to get fingers around and may not be the best choice for a younger player with still growing fingers.
The smaller travel type guitars might be a good option for a younger student whose hands and fingers are smaller. I enjoy playing my Baby Taylor guitar that I take with when traveling, but also enjoy playing it around the house. It fits nicely in my lap in just about any chair. Many retailers sell these guitars. I got mine through Musician's Friend, www.musiciansfriend.com where they sell these and many other popular brands, styles, and price ranges.
My pricipal acoustic guitar is my prized Martin 000-28 Eric Clapton model. I chose this guitar for many reasons, too many to go into at this time, but more later. But I will say that besides the beautiful sounds that this guitar makes,(when played by others),(ha, I can play it too), but it has a very beautiful kind of simplicity. It's hard not to be in love with a beautiful guitar!
